Christ-Exalting

• Pray for CBC NTX to never lose her first love.
  • Revelation 2:4-5 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
    • Pray that Christ will commend CBC NTX for her abounding love for Christ.
    • Pray that CBC NTX will be characterized by repentant faith, resulting in good works.
  • Pray for Jesus to remain the focus and passion of CBC NTX as long as we exist.

• Pray for Pastor PJ to exalt Jesus through the preaching of the Scriptures.
  • Pray that every sermon will cause people to love Jesus more.
  • Pray that every sermon will inform thoughts and understanding of the person of Jesus.
  • Pray that every sermon will prompt people to worship Jesus in response to the truths of the word.

• Pray for Jesus to have first place in every facet of ministry at CBC NTX.
  • Pray that our mission (“To know Jesus and make him known”) will characterize every ministry at CBC NTX.
  • Pray that our events and activities will also reflect our passion to exalt Jesus in our church.

• Pray for zealous evangelists at CBC NTX who will preach a Christ-exalting gospel that has the power to save lost souls.
  • Pray that our people will be clear that Jesus is the only hope for the lost in their lives.
  • Pray that our people will exalt Jesus as the hero of the gospel story.
  • Pray that our people will exalt Jesus through sharing their testimony and the power of his work in their lives.
  • Pray that everyone who makes CBC NTX their home will feel compelled and empowered by the Spirit to make Christ known, whatever the cost.

• Pray for our Community Groups to be places where people grow in their knowledge and love for Jesus weekly.
  • Pray for godly friendships to form in these groups that have a love for Jesus as the primary bond.
  • Pray for these groups to facilitate the application of the preached word as the Spirit continues to conform us to the image of Jesus.
  • Pray for these groups to live out Hebrews 10:24, stirring one another up to Christ-exalting love and good works.
  • Pray that these groups foster a resilient love for one another that pursues relational peace and unity, seeking to resolve conflicts and build one another up in their most holy faith.

• Pray for our kids ministry and student ministries to plant the seeds of a love for Jesus in the lives of the next generations at CBC NTX.
  • Pray for volunteers to staff these ministries who will take seriously their role in teaching the fundamentals about Jesus and developing an understanding of the gospel.
  • Pray for our children to be captivated by learning about Jesus and to begin at an early age to desire a relationship with him.
  • Pray for our students to be confronted with the biblical picture of Jesus that is far better than the pleasures of the world, and pray that the would choose to repent and trust Jesus.
  • Pray for many salvations to emerge from the impact that these ministries will have on our children and students over the years.

• Pray for the reputation of CBC NTX to be that of a church that loves Jesus first and foremost.
  • Pray for Jesus to be the frequent subject of conversations that take place between our people and those they interact with from our community.
  • Pray for visitors who attend our church to leave with a clear understanding that we love Jesus and desire to exalt him in all we do.

 

Culture-Engaging

• Pray for Pastor PJ to bring rich, accessible, culturally relevant application from the careful exposition of God’s word.
  • Pray for Pastor PJ to know the people of the church and community well in order to bring appropriate application from the preaching.
  • Pray for Pastor PJ to be able to appropriately and wisely draw the connection between the passage preached and the day’s current events.
  • Pray for Pastor PJ to be able to preach the word in such a way that its timeless and eternal relevance is felt and understood by the congregation.

• Pray for the church to receive the word with humble hearts and an eager zeal to live out its truths in their various spheres of influence.
  • Pray for people to be teachable and humble as they sit under the preaching of the word.
  • Pray for people to be well-prepared when they come to corporate worship, ready for the Spirit to take the preached word and apply it to their lives.
  • Pray for people to readily draw the connection between the timeless truths of Scripture and their daily lives.

• Pray for the church to build relationships with neighbors and coworkers and cashiers in the community in hopes of seeing lost souls saved.
  • Pray for our people to battle the love of comfort or the fear of man that often prevents us from engaging with the lost.
  • Pray for our people to be intentional with these relationships to work toward gospel opportunities where the message of salvation in Christ alone is presented with a clear call for a response.
  • Pray for our people to think about every sphere of their lives as a mission field where they can be engaging with the lost around them in a winsome and evangelistic fashion.

• Pray for the church to embrace a biblical worldview that approaches world events with a clear focus on God’s plan in all of it.
  • Pray for our people to have a well-formed biblical worldview that causes them to approach every headline through the lenses of God’s word.
  • Pray for our people to battle the fear and anxiety that often accompanies the day’s news by remembering God’s truth and seeking him in prayer.
  • Pray for our people to work to see how God is glorified in everything that transpires on this world’s stage.

• Pray for CBC NTX to be a church where lost feel welcome but not comfortable in their sin.
  • Pray for our people to be patient with the lost while constantly pointing them to Jesus.
  • Pray for our people to be wise in how to love the lost while not approving or condoning their sinful lives.
  • Pray for the lost who visit our church to feel the weight of conviction and to desire freedom from their sin.
  • Pray for the lost who visit our church to be saved.

• Pray for CBC NTX to be a church that leaves each weekend feeling ready and equipped to be Christ’s ambassadors in their communities.

 

Church-Equipping

• Pray for CBC NTX to be full of highly committed participants who each see the importance of their role in the overall health of the body.
  • Pray for our people to understand that God has brought them to our church, in part, to serve for the building up of the whole body.
  • Pray for our people to battle the consumer mentality that comes to church only seeking to be served rather than to serve others.
  • Pray for our people to understand that serving won’t always look like having the role they want or think they should have, but that serving where they are needed has great value to the body as a whole.

• Pray for the preaching ministries of CBC NTX to be effective venues for people to be equipped for the work of the ministry.
  • Pray for people to grow in their understanding of the word and to be increasingly sanctified for effective ministry.
  • Pray for teachers and community group leaders and future pastors to be trained up under the preaching ministry at CBC NTX.
  • Pray for CBC NTX to be a church-planting church where the gifts of pastors are developed and honed while serving with us in order to be sent out to plant new lamp stands.

• Pray for an abundance of service-minded volunteers to help with all of the moving pieces in the early stages of the plant.
  • Pray for humility and a willingness to do what’s needed.
  • Pray for physical strength and endurance to stack chairs and set up and tear down the stage each week.
  • Pray for people who will drive the trailer to and from the facility each weekend.
  • Pray for people who will serve in our kids ministry and student ministries each weekend.

• Pray for the church to feel equipped as ambassadors for Christ who will confidently share the gospel with the lost.
  • Pray for our people to feel confident in their knowledge of the gospel to the degree that they are able to share it with the lost in their lives.
  • Pray for our people to allow that eagerness and boldness to translate to lost people being saved and added to the church.

• Pray for no divisions or rivalries to arise in the church based on roles or positions or perceived giftedness.
  • Pray for our people to understand that we are loving one another by serving.
  • Pray for our people to die to self and understand that serving is not about self-promotion.
  • Pray for our people to trust God’s sovereignty in providing the role that he has for them to serve.
