What Good is God's Word? (Psalm 119:49-56)

My kids have a book called, “The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook,” and it gives all kinds of advice on how to handle a snake bite or a bear attack or jumping off a building into a dumpster! It’s all information that we’ll probably never use, but if we found ourselves in one of those situations, it would be good to know what it had to say. The Bible isn’t a guide for situations you’ll probably never find yourself in. It’s a guide for everyday life helping us know what to do when hope wavers, how to respond to the derision of the world, how to think about the wicked, and where to go to find comfort. In this week’s passage from Psalm 119, we’ll be reminded of just how useful the Word is for helping us survive the day by remembering the promises of God. Join us Sunday at 9 or 11 as we continue with our Summer in the Word series with a sermon from Psalm 119:49-56.
