The Corinthian church was divided into factions all wanting to advance their own cause or to elevate themselves over their brothers and sisters in Christ instead of focusing on the real task of the church, advancing the gospel.
If the gospel is going to remain central, unity is essential. As we continue to see what a healthy church looks like we’re going to find that a healthy church is a united church. There’s too much at stake in the spiritual battle around us for us to get sidetracked fighting with each other.
